Summer Post #4

I choose this book because I was told that it was about World War 2 and I am fascinated with World War 2. The attention to this book was that my mom read this book and told me that it was a good book and she saw it on the list and got excited. I was also drawn to read the book when I figured out that the book was narrated my Death I found that to be cool and different from many other books. I am very happy to know that I don’t have many personal connections to the novel. I don’t have to live in poverty,  never had to hide something, not  lost a sibling, not had the desire to steal,  not  live in a war situation never the less I did make a connection. The personal connection that I drew from The Book Thief was the power of friendship. My friends and I are also connected by things that we have in common like for instance me and my friends love sports just as Liesel and Rudy both love to steal. My friends and I our hobby that connects us is not criminal it still stick us together just like Liesel and Rudy. I would recommend this book to a wide audience especially those who have an interest in the World War 2 era and who want a different perspective on how the war and the pervious war took effect on the people of Germany.

Summer Post #3

“Late in March, a place called Lubeck was hailed with bombs. Next in line would be Cologne, and soon enough, many more German cities, including Munich.

Yes, the boss was at my shoulder.

‘Get it done, get it done.’

The bombs were coming-and so was I.”(Page 335)

This part of the book is really confusing if you didn’t know that this whole quote was narrated by death. The bombs were coming was also saying that death was coming to collect the dead bodied souls. This quote is about the middle of the book when you really know that its death that is narrating this book because the next chapter is called “Death’s Diary: Cologne” (Page 336). The part after the colon was one of the cities that was to be bombed. This tells you about what the whole chapter is to be about it is about death describing the bombing and describing the death caused by the bombs. Munich was the city that our Protagonist was living in so it was important because it was a BIG clue about future of what will be in the book. . The line ‘Yes, the boos was at my shoulder’ I still don’t know the meaning I am guessing that he is describing Hitler if not then I don’t know  you will have to read the book yourself to find out.

Summer Post #2

The main characters in this book all have their own features just like in any other book but as I have found out have a different narrator which is death. Liesel desires to have her brother back. This is also why she is keeping hold of the book she found when they buried her brother. Liesel’s mama as she calls her wants to not have to do the rich peoples laundry. She is so much like my sister and most people where she hates the rich people  but shows kindness and once the door is shut and they cannot hear her she swear about their existence. Papa also wants something and that thing is for Liesel to be happy because he care for her and shows his love to her. Liesel’s friend Rudy wants two things one is for Liesel to kiss him and the other is to be like Jesse Owens the African American track star. It is sad though because his dad is part of the Nazi party and told his son that he should not like to become like Jesse Owens because he is not a part of the Arian Race. He asked his dad and he did not have an answer which leads me to the theme that is appearing and that is that if you have questions with no answers go and find them out yourself.

Summer Post #1

The major characters in the book are Liesel Meminger, who is the Main Character, but two other major characters that Liesel has been told to call them mama and papa. Another major character is Rudy who is Liesel’s best friend. The setting is in Germany during when Hitler was in power but so far not yet into World War 2. Liesel has had nightmares since she arrived at her foster parent’s house. The nightmares are about her brother. Papa comes in and calms down Liesel when she wakes up screaming from the dream. Liesel has now started to make friends with all of the neighboring kids. At this point the Jewish people now are getting their stores closed on them. I predict that Liesel and Rudy are both going to get themselves into trouble trying to steal books and keep them. I feel this way because I know of the Nazi book burnings and I have a feeling that Liesel and Rudy are going to try and get some of the books that the Nazi Party is burning. I also think that they are going to have to hide the books that they have from the Nazi Party. This book reminds me of The movie “All Quiet on the Western Front, ” because it is about WW1 and it was also a book that the Nazi party wanted destroyed so that the people of Germany would not think that war was and awful thing.

Lone Survivor #4

When they where rolling down the hill one character was left behind and the leader of that group says that they have to go back and get him. The character of the team leader is to leave no man behind. The character next to him tells him that it is suicide to go back. This character is very level headed and knows when someone is dead meat in a situation like this. They try and call in backup but right when the helicopter is about to land it is shot by an RPG. This diminished any hope that these characters had left in them. They are still not giving in to the Taliban because they know they will not take any prisoners. They are getting shot at and in the chaos they are running and one of the soldiers gets trapped at a cliff and another was shot in the leg and they told the leader to give him a pistol and leave him. That took insane courage to tell his leader that he will not be able to make it and he tried to hold them off as long as he could then got shot before he saw any of the Taliban.

Reflection #1

I have used my writer voice most in my blog Post Lone Survivor #2. It help shows that the decision of letting these herders go could risk their life and that adds suspence in the post. The voice in this post is indecisive about what to choose for the option of what to do with the herders. The words show that I am a very simple writer and do not use fancy words like the one we will be putting in our word journal.

I use alot of low informal diction in my writing like using camping and using traits. In my writing I use very little to no formal diction. My diction is very concrete what I put on the paper or the computer is very literal where I should try using more meaning ful words. Many of my stentences are short to medium in length I do not nramally use longer more descriptive sentences. I do not add alot of puntuation in my posts where I should to add meaning and emphasis in my posts.

Lone Survivor #3

The Marines had made the decision to let them go. One of the younger herders sprinted down the mountain and told the War Lord. So the Marines are being chased by this massive army and they are pinned down and surrounded. This is now my favorite part of the book where they are defending off the army and they are all working so well together as a team and they start to retreat back to a little cliff and 3 out of the 4 jump and the other is shot in the shoulder. As the men are rolling down the hill they are hitting rocks and trees. They stop rolling and they group up and one of the guys says "Well That sucked." Throwing a little humor in a bad situation.

Ramsey Review

The column that I  read was a response to the school shooting and wanting to arm teachers."As a board of education, you know better than most how much is already asked of teachers and how far their energy and talents are stretched" This line is showing that the Teacher has more stress than people think that they do. The teachers don't need the extra stress with dealing with the gun that they have to have concealed. These Teachers take a beating with the different kids from year to year and the likely hood of a school shooting is very low. She as a writer is very talented and she is saying with the you know better as slang and not totally proper grammar. Her writing style is very 'really' it is like she is saying really with out writing it, it seems implied that she is saying really are you that stupid.
I have three questions for Krista Remsey.
1. What is your opinion on this argument?
2. How do you get your ideas and where do you normally get them?
3. How long have you been a writer?

Lone Survivor #2

At this part of the book is where they are camping out where the War lord is staying at. These characters have been spying on them when goat herders find them spying. The four main characters so far all have different traits. One is aggressive and one passive. The best part about my book so far is the fact that this is based off a true story. Many of the characters are thinking about what to do with these herders. If they let them go they could get told on but it is in humane to leave them there and let them die. The characters are struggling to make a decision right now and that is testing their character to see if they are willing to risk their life to let these herders go.

Lone Survivor #1

I am reading the book Lone Survivor. I am in the part of the book where they are trying to figure out how to kill one of the talliban war lords that has been killing marines. The setting so far is a military base in the Middle East. I asume that the squad of four will be out in the field trying to find the war lord and neutralize him a.k.a kill him.

The chracter that I choose was Clarisse. I picked her becasue she is an odd ball and out there as I have noticed to this society. The most impotant quote that she has said is "Is it true that long ago firemen put out fires instead of going to start them." This quote got Montag thinking about the past and what life was really be like if the government didnt have so many censors on everything. The most important quote said about here was said by Montag "You are an odd one." Thiss show that not many people question society and other things that help new inventions be created so it is a society that life dosnt improve or get worse. I think that Clarisse think that firemen are not bad people it is just their job to burn books, she also wants to learn more about them that is why she talks to Montag.
I think that Clarrisse looks like this
